The Frutería
Chef Johnny Hernandez has set his ambitious sights on the SouthTown District (where he also calls home). The Frutería will be a contemporary interpretation of fruit stands found across interior Mexico. By day you can enjoy complex torta sandwiches and creative Mexican inspired tostadas, by night the eatery transforms into a buzzing, contemporary cocktail lounge featuring fresh fruit–infused tequila cocktails. Chef Johnny makes frequent trips to Mexico and often picks out the tequila barrels himself. The Frutería opens late 2012, and will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Walk downstairs in the morning to fresh pastries and coffee on the front porch of The Fruteria, then enjoy the River Walk, just blocks away.
